Crossing the choppy waters of Lake Huron by way of an early morning Shepler's Ferry led to scenic panoramas of Mackinac Bridge and second-largest of the Great Lakes. Rent a mountain bike from a variety of vendors along the bustling main drag of Lake Shore Drive and spend the day riding 185 around the perimeter of Mackinac Island, taking in 8.2 miles of stunning Lake Huron views and main-shore Michigan, a short distance from the island. Take a detour inland to Point Lookout, the highest spot on the island for views and a history lesson. After returning your bike along the main drag, settle into a bar seat at one of the many pubs and restaurants for a brew and bite to eat while awaiting the next ferry back to the mainland.
